Attacks Near Western Wall, Rachel’s Tomb: Silence of political, faith leaders as deadly as bullets meant to kill Jews at Holy Sites

August 13, 2022

The Simon Wiesenthal Center prays for the full and speedy recovery of victims of two attacks in Israel, one on a bus near the Western Wall, and the other at Rachel’s Tomb. A pregnant woman and seven other Israelis were shot near the Western Wall and gunmen opened fire at Rachel’s Tomb.

“The Simon Wiesenthal Center prays for the full and speedy recovery of all victims,” said Rabbis Marvin Hier, Simon Wiesenthal Center Founder and CEO, and Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Global Social Action Director.

“We await condemnation from Muslim and Christian faith leaders in Jerusalem and around the world, from the World Council of Churches, and UN Human Rights Council.  The silence of political and faith leaders worldwide is as deadly as the bullets meant to kill Jews at Holy Sites,” they concluded.
