Wiesenthal Center Officials to Hold Press Briefing Today

WHAT:   WIESENTHAL CENTER OFFICIALS TO HOLD PRESS BRIEFING    FOLLOWING THEIR RETURN FROM HUMANITARIAN MISSION TO THE FRONTLINES OF ISRAEL

WHERE:  Museum of Tolerance, 9786 W. Pico Blvd. (corner Pico & Roxbury), Los Angeles

WHEN:   TODAY, August 4, 2006 at 2:00 PM

Returning from their humanitarian/solidarity mission to the Israel, Wiesenthal Center officials, along with L.A. City Councilmember Jack Weiss, will hold a press briefing today Friday August 4, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Museum of Tolerance to give a firsthand account of their experiences on the frontlines of Israel’s war on terrorism. Over a half million dollars was raised by the Center and distributed to hospitals, rehab centers and shelter under fire in the north and south of the country, including Arab-Israeli communities.

Visuals from the mission are available and Councilmember Weiss will present artwork by elementary school students in Sderot, a community in southern Israel that has been the target of over 1000 Kassam missiles from the Gaza Strip. The complete set of artwork is scheduled to be put on display at LA City Hall.

Scheduled to speak at the briefing will be:
           —Rabbi Marvin Hier, founder and dean of the Wiesenthal Center
           —Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Center
           —Jack WeissLos Angeles City Councilmember
