Wiesenthal Center Offers Croatian Authorities Assistance in Revising Jasenovac Historical Exhibition

Jerusalem – The Simon Wiesenthal Center announced today that it had offered to assist the Croatian government in its plan to revise the historical exhibition at the Jasenovac concentration camp, the largest of the camps established by the fascist Ustasha regime during World War II. The offer was extended by Israel director Holocaust historian Dr. Efraim Zuroff to visiting Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Slobodan Uzelac at a dinner hosted yesterday by the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem.

According to Zuroff:

“I was very pleased to learn from President Mesic of the government’s intention to revise and upgrade the exhibition opened two years ago at the notorious Jasenovac concentration camp, which unfortunately suffers from very serious historical and educational flaws. The Wiesenthal Center, which exposed and helped bring to justice Dinko Sakic, one of the camp’s commanders who died in prison last year, will be more than ready to make available its expertise on this important project.”
