WIESENTHAL CENTER: AHMADINEJAD VISIT TO GROUND ZERO
“MOCKS THE MEMORY OF THE INNOCENT VICTIMS OF  9/11”

Center says Ahmadinejad’s Iran is a virtual ATM machine of terrorism.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center today added its voice to the outcry against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s proposed visit to the World Trade Center site during next week’s trip to speak to the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

“The Tehran regime today is Terrorism Central,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Wiesenthal Center. “Ahmadinejad’s Iran is a virtual ATM machine of terrorism,” he continued, adding that the regime, “trains and supplies Hezbollah, funds Hamas and is deeply immersed in a R & D program with Syria that threatens Israel with mass casualties from poison gas. To allow Ahmadinejad to come anywhere near the hallowed earth of Ground Zero would be an insult to the memory of the thousands of innocent victims of 9/11,” Cooper concluded.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe.
