Dear Simon Wiesenthal Center Supporter:
I am writing to you from Cordoba, Spain. As you know, I was chosen as a United States delegate to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's 2005 Conference on Antisemitism and Other Forms of Intolerance - in recognition of the crucial role the Wiesenthal Center has played in combating antisemitism as well as the Center’s expertise in tolerance education.
Today, in my address to the OSCE, I presented practical solutions on how to combat antisemitism through Holocaust Education. I suggested the:
- establishment of a museum or resource center in every country to help educate and build awareness
- establishment of an OSCE lending library of films and DVDs on the Holocaust in various languages for distribution to schools and religious centers
- creation of a poster series on the Holocaust for distribution to all OSCE member countries
- convening of future conferences to encourage discussion and help stimulate new ideas
- posting of an OSCE compliance record sheet that would track each country’s implementation record
I also delivered a speech on the media and antisemitism where I cited one example after another of antisemitic articles and broadcasts that have appeared in newspapers and television that serve only to incite people against Jews without any fear of consequence, either from their own governments or from the international community.

In the last few days, I have met with government officials, policy makers, and ambassadors from many of the countries represented here. And, I also attended the NGO (non-governmental organization) meeting in Seville, Spain prior to the OSCE Conference where, at a special session on Islamaphobia, Center Associate Dean Rabbi Abraham Cooper challenged a Spanish Moslem leader to speak out against the importation of antisemitic hate from the Middle East, including a vicious mini-series produced in the Middle East and broadcast into Europe.
As always, I thank you for your support of the Simon Wiesenthal Center .
Your donations enable us to continue our important mission of combating antisemitism and hate through education and awareness around the world. Please continue to support us today!
Sincerely,
Rabbi Marvin Hier Cordoba, Spain
