SWC Commends the US for Vetoing an Anti-Israel Resolution at the UN Security Council for Failing to Include a Call to Immediately Release all 101 Israeli Hostages.

November 20, 2024

The Simon Wiesenthal Center today commended the White House for vetoing a UN Security Council resolution condemning Israel.

"We now urge President Biden to order the release of all armaments promised to Israel,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, SWC Director of Global Social Action.

“It is no coincidence that the Security Council vote comes on the heels of a bill introduced in the US Senate, led by Bernie Sanders, urging a full arms embargo against the Jewish State. The Administration must send an unambiguous message from Tehran to Capitol Hill that America stands with our ally as it fights against terrorist attacks from seven fronts, including Iran,” he added.

“Anyone supporting an arms embargo against Israel aids and abets these enemies committed to destroying the Jewish state. Any Jewish group, including J Street and others that support such a draconian and unwarranted move endangers Jewish lives and should be denounced by all friends of Israel and friends of peace,” Cooper concluded.
