Swedish Government’s Response “Inadequate” to New “Blood-Libel”

The Simon Wiesenthal Center dismissed the Swedish Foreign Ministry’s distancing itself from a new blood libel against Israel.

An article published in Sweden’s largest daily newspaper, Aftonbladet, reported that Israeli soldiers are kidnapping and killing Palestinians to steal their organs.

“Even as the Aftonbladet newspaper and its so-called reporter begin to back away from having knowingly published an outrageous lie slandering the people of Israel, we call on the people of Sweden including their political, religious and media leadership to reject the seemingly endless demonization of the Jewish State,” said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, SWC associate dean.

“Failure to do so will certainly lead to increased anti-Semitism,”Cooper concluded.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, the OAS, the Council of Europe and the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino).
