SWC LAUDS UN SECRETARY GENERAL FOR CANCELING IRAN TRIP

The Simon Wiesenthal Center lauded United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan for canceling his November 11, 2005 visit to Tehran.

"This is an important gesture by Mr. Annan," said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the Wiesenthal Center's associate dean. "It sends a message to the Tehran regime that it cannot be business as usual when a genocidal threat is made," he added.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is continuing its call for major UN bodies to take specific actions to force Iran to call off its war against the Jews. Click here to join the Center's ongoing campaign urging Secretary-General Annan to take action.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe.
