SWC DINNER HONORS ROBERT SHAYE AND MICHAEL LYNNE, NEW LINE CINEMA CO-CHAIRMEN AND CO-CEOS, WITH CENTER’S 2007 HUMANITARIAN AWARD

Slain Virginia Tech Professor Liviu Librescu, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, And NBC’s Ann Curry  Received  Medals Of Valor At Wiesenthal Center National Tribute Dinner

Liviu Librescu (posthumously), the Virginia Tech professor who gave his own life so that his students would be spared from the massacre; Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin (posthumously), who led the reunification of Jerusalem 40 years ago; and  NBC Today Show

news anchor Ann Curry, who has distinguished herself by reporting on global humanitarian crises, were recipients of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Medal of Valor when the Center and the Museum of Tolerance held its annual National Tribute Dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills.  This year, the Center presented Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne, co-Chairmen and co-CEOs of New Line Cinema with its highest honor, the 2007 Humanitarian Award, for their commitment to cultural diversity, social responsibility and philanthropy.



Dinner Chairmen were Jeff Bewkes, President and COO, Time Warner Inc.; Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO, DreamWorks Animation; and Ron Meyer, President and COO, Universal Studios.

CNN’s Larry King served as emcee for the evening and Nikki Blonsky and Marc Shaiman (from the upcoming New Line musical comedy Hairspray) performed. Also attending from Hairspray was Queen Latifah; Zac Efron; Elijah Kelley; director Adam Shankman; and producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.   Additional guests included Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa; Rush Hour 3 director, Brett Ratner; OscarTM Award winning director, Gavin Hood; Rendition screenwriter Kelley Sane; and Love in the Time of Cholera producer Scott Steindorff.
