SWC DEEPLY TROUBLED BY REPORTS THAT FINAL LONDON STATEMENT FAILS TO MENTION TERRORISM
"The Simon Wiesenthal Center is deeply troubled by reports in Haaretz that the Final Statement of the London Conference on Supporting the Palestinian Authority will not mention terrorism or include an explicit commitment by the Palestinian Authority to act against rockets being fired at Israeli communities," said Rabbi Abraham Cooper. "When will the Palestinian people actually hear publicly and directly from their leaders that the era of terror attacks against Israel must end and with it the entire terrorist infrastructure of groups including Islamic Jihad and Hamas? The failure of the hosts of this conference to insist that such a change in policy be publicly enunciated by PA president Abbas only delays the moment of truth for his administration and only ensures that more innocent Jewish blood will be shed by those groups committed to Israel's destruction," he charged.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe.
