SWC Condemns ICJ’s Ruling on the West Bank & East Jerusalem

July 23, 2024

The Simon Wiesenthal Center today denounced the German Foreign Minister’s endorsement of the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion that Israel’s “occupation” of the West Bank and East Jerusalem is illegal.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper, SWC Associate Dean and Director of Global Social Action for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said: “It is not illegal for Jewish people to live in their ancestral homeland. The ICJ’s opinion and the German Foreign Minister’s endorsement of it, coming in the midst of Israel’s war against Hamas and a Palestinian Authority that financially rewards Palestinian terrorists to murder Jews, makes more distant any hope for a two-state solution. SWC urges German Chancellor Scholz to clearly articulate Germany’s policy vis-a-vis the ICJ’s ruling.”
