SWC Condemns ICC Arrest Warrant for Prime Minister Netanyahu; Applauds US Government for Opposing ICC Decision

November 21, 2024

The Simon Wiesenthal Center condemned today’s decision by the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Earlier this year, the Simon Wiesenthal Center submitted a legal brief — together with UK Lawyers for Israel, B’nai B’rith UK, the International Legal Forum, and the Jerusalemites’ Initiative — to the International Criminal Court (ICC) protesting the inaccuracies and omissions contained in ICC Prosecutor’s applications for arrest warrants targeting Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant.

In the brief, SWC argued, "Every phrase of every sentence of the Prosecutor’s Statement summarizing the allegations against Netanyahu and Gallant is untrue.”

Rabbi Abraham Cooper, SWC Global Social Action Director stated “These warrants from a kangaroo court make a mockery of justice and are a victory for Iran and its proxies who seek a real genocide against Israel. Israeli leaders are guilty of defending their citizens from terrorists.  We applaud the US government for strongly condemning this politicization of justice.”
