The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) today commended President Biden for his call for the immediate release of the remaining hostages in Gaza. SWC also commended a roster of supporting countries that joined the call for the release of hostages including Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.
Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Director of Global Social Action Agenda for SWC, said “We applaud President Biden for taking the lead in assembling an international coalition to demand the release of hostages still held in Gaza. Nothing justifies the taking of hostages on October 7th, and nothing justifies the refusal of Hamas to release all hostages, particularly as part of a ceasefire that has been offered.”
The SWC continues to support calls for a resolution to the conflict that will ensure the immediate release of all hostages as a necessary first step.
