Rabbi Marvin Hier, the Center’s founder and dean will serve on the United States delegation to this week’s 2005 Conference on Antisemitism and Other Forms of Intolerance in Cordoba, Spain. Rabbi Hier was chosen to participate because of the Wiesenthal Center’s expertise in tolerance education and in recognition of the Center’s crucial role in combating antisemitism.

Heading the U.S. delegation will be New York Governor George E. Pataki. His Majesty Juan Carlos I, King of Spain will open this year’s event which will focus on practical steps to combat intolerance.

The gathering, which will be attended by 55 nations plus Non-Governmental Organizations from around the world, will build on last year’s conferences in Berlin and Brussels, both of which were attended by Wiesenthal Center representatives. The sponsor of the conference is the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) which is comprised of 55 nations, including the United States, Canada and the countries of Europe and Eurasia.
