In wake of a new round of violence against protestors in Iran, Roozbeh Farahanipour, Secretary General of Marz-e-porgohar (Iranians for a Secular Republic), who was imprisoned and tortured as one of the leaders of the July 1999 student uprisings in Tehran, will brief the media on his recent clandestine trip to Iran to join street protests on the uprising’s 10th anniversary. The briefing will take place on Monday, July 20 at 11:00 am at the Museum of Tolerance, 9786 W. Pico Blvd, Los Angeles 90035. At a Wiesenthal Center briefing last month, Mr. Farahanipour represented just one of a diverse range of activists in solidarity with the Iranian people.
The Wiesenthal Center will also announce its “Iran Unofficial ReVote Ballot” web campaign to poll visitors on their preference for Iranian President—Mir Hossein Mousavi, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, or None of the Above. Visitors can vote only once before September 15—the opening of the 64th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The ballot can be seen at www.wiesenthal.com.
