WIESENTHAL CENTER REACTION TO MATT HALE CONVICTION

The Simon Wiesenthal Center today applauded the Court's decision today in sentencing White Supremacist Matt Hale to 40 years in prison.

"Matt Hale is one of America's most active and notorious hate mongers. His hateful agenda has encouraged others to carry out murderous hate crimes," said Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. "This is an appropriate sentence for someone who attempted to solicit the murder of a sitting judge in the United States. His absence from society won't be missed."

The websites of Hale's organization, World Church of the Creator, have been closely monitored by Center researchers and are prominently displayed in the Center's new CD ROM interactive report, Digital Terrorism and Hate 2005.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, and the Council of Europe.
