Holocaust Heroes Honored at the Museum Of Tolerance on Holocaust Remembrance Day


On Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, Jacob and Hennie Ombach were honored (posthumously) by Israel’s Yad Vashem for hiding and saving the Moscoviters family in Holland during the dark days of the Holocaust.

Children and grandchildren from both families were at the Simon Wiesenthal Center's Museum of Tolerance to receive the honor. Survivors of the Holocaust, diplomats and community activists from throughout Los Angeles attended the annual ceremony.

The program included Rabbi Marvin Hier, Founder and Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and The Honorable Irwin Cotler, Former Canadian Justice Minister, international human rights lawyer, and current Canadian MP, who spoke on "The Holocaust and Human Rights: Lessons For Our Times".

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is one of the largest international Jewish human rights organizations with over 400,000 member families in the United States. It is an NGO at international agencies including the United Nations, UNESCO, the OSCE, the OAS, the Council of Europe and the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino).
