The Simon Wiesenthal Center launched a protest to Amazon Prime demanding the removal of Bawaal, a Bollywood film, directed by well-known Indian filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari. |
|
Why the Protest? |
- Bawaal includes outlandish abuse of the Nazi Holocaust as a plot device
- Set in contemporary times it includes scenes where the protagonists enter a gas chamber in Auschwitz and are suffocated while wearing striped clothing
- Hitler is used as a metaphor for human greed; the main protagonist states: “We’re all a little like Hitler, aren’t we?” and “Every relationship goes through their Auschwitz”
|
Action Urged: |
- SWC continues to demand that Amazon Prime stop monetizing Bawaal by removing this banal trivialization of the suffering and systematic murder of millions of victims who suffered at the hands of Hitler’s genocidal regime
- Neither the filmmakers and Amazon Prime have yet to respond to the Simon Wiesenthal Center

Also Streaming on Amazon:

- The SWC’s two-time Academy Award-winning Moriah Films has 12 of it’s documentary films streaming on Amazon Prime including 7 which deal with the subject of the Nazi Holocaust https://www.moriahfilms.com/film-library/
