In celebration of the 58th anniversary of Israel Independence Day (Yom Ha'atzmaut) on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, the Simon Wiesenthal Center is proud to feature the Moriah Films Academy Award®-winning documentary, The Long Way Home.

Available for purchase, The Long Way Home is narrated by Morgan Freeman (pictured) and tells the dramatic story of the tumultuous years from 1945 – 1948; the end of World War II to the creation of the State of Israel.  It also features the voices of Edward Asner, Sean Astin, Martin Landau, Miriam Margolyes, David Paymer, and Nina Siemasko.

Combining rare archival films and stills, along with new interviews, The Long Way Home interweaves historical narrative with stories, anecdotes, and recollections of Jewish refugees epitomizing the challenges of recreating their identity and the battles they faced in rebuilding their lives in a new land.
